Winter Springs, one of the newer municipalities in Seminole County,is the largest in land area. When incorporated in 1959, the name was Village of North Orlando. Winter Springs has experienced almost an 800 percent increase in population since 1970, to over 23,000 residents. The present onset of commercial and industrial development in Winter Springs, which had been wholly residential throughout the 1970s, gives evidence of a new trend for the city.
